Why should a Christian always carry their Bible?

The Bible. It is the most precious and valuable book in this world, yet there are many Christians who do not treat it as such. I know at times I have been guilty of treating the Bible as an ordinary book, when it simply is not an ordinary book.

• A Christian should carry their Bible because it is the Word of God
• A Christian should carry their Bible because it is the Christian's guide to how they live their life.
• A Christian should carry their Bible so they are always ready and prepared to share God's Word with others.
• A Christian should carry their Bible so they may study it every day.
• A Christian should carry their Bible so they may encourage others.
• A Christian should carry their Bible so it may help them overcome temptation.

I completely understand not wanting to carry a large book around with us as you go to work or to school or to the store to run errands. It simply would not be practical. With that said, they are a couple of great "products" when it comes to the Bible, making it more convenient to take with you every day.

• Pocket-size Bibles. These Bibles can easily fit into a purse or your back pocket in your pants.
• Electronic Handheld Bibles. These small electronic devices contain the Bible.
• Bible Software for your laptop or electronic handheld (like a Palm). I have a Palm product and I am hoping in the new future to get a Bible software program for it. One of the nice features of software for your laptop or electronic handheld is that you can often get several versions of the Bible. It is much more convenient than carry around three different physical Bibles to have three different versions!

I am certainly writing this blog to myself. I always (unless I accidentally leave it somewhere) carry my Bible to the assembly. Christians should certainly have their Bible with them in Bible class or in the assembly. However, I neglect to bring my Bible with me as I go about my daily business. We should all strive to carry the Word of God with us wherever we go.

I love the electronic Bibles as they are so convinient for quick passage look up and often have other reference features. Good reminder Lisa. I'm guilty of leaving my Bible behind, but it's good to follow along with in church. Pastors are human and err sometimes in thier scriptural message so it's good for those purposes too.

I'm hoping to get a Bible sofware program for my Palm handheld for Christmas! :) It would be an easy way to have the Bible with me all the time.

I do try to keep a small paperback new testament in my purse, but sometimes it gets misplaced. It is convenient if a conversation comes up and you have to answer questions.

No need to wait for Christmas, there are good free Bible software around. The best, IMO, is PalmBiblePlus ( http://palmbibleplus.sourceforge.net/ )
