Having a disclosure policy on your blog is not only a tool to adhere to FTC guidelines but allows you to maintain your reputation as an ethical blogger. Readers do not want to be “tricked” into clicking on affiliate links. Readers do not care if you get paid to post, paid for a link, paid if they buy from your affiliate link, or compensated with review products. Deciding Who Is Responsible for Housework

Who is mainly responsible for the housekeeping in your home? In several blogs, I have mentioned the importance of delegating housework. Anyone who lives in a home should play some part in keeping it clean and orderly. However this doesn’t necessarily mean that the delegation of housework will be even. You also have to figure in each person’s age, outside responsibilities and other important factors that may play into it. For instance when my children were young, I was a stay-at-home mom. Since I was in the home more hours a day than my husband, I pretty much took care … Continue reading

Irresponsible Pet Owners

In my last article I mentioned that I can’t watch several shows on Animal Planet because they upset me. Next to Animal Cops, the other shows that I find disturbing are those where dog trainers go to people’s homes to help with their dogs’ behavioral problems. For my second “Be Kind to Animals Week” article, I want to focus on irresponsible pet owners. Irresponsible pet owners are one of my biggest peeves, and the reason why I don’t like dog training shows. Watching those shows it seems like most of the time, the dogs have problems because their owners don’t … Continue reading

New Single Parents Blogger

Screaming kids, dishes piled high in the sink, past-due bills, and one person who is solely responsible for it all. Such is the life as a single parent, a life I am quite experienced with. My name is Jacky Gamble, and I am the newest blogger to the Single Parents blog. I first became a single parent at the age of 20, when my daughter was just 6 months old. Her father was not in the picture and failed to pay any child support. I was left to raise and support her on my own. When she was 6 years … Continue reading

Responsible Firewood

Monday was the start back to school here in Pennsylvania, and the date seemed to bring with it the first signs of fall. Only the week before, the temperature and the humidity was high enough conditioning and shorts. Today I am dressed in a sweatshirt and jeans and had to close the windows because our heat-adapted bodies aren’t used to temperatures in the low 70s. The temperatures remind me that it won’t be long now before we will be firing up the wood burning fireplace. We’ll have to split and put up some wood for the winter to ensure that … Continue reading

Irresponsible Owner Breaks Writer’s Heart (Again)

I was driving home from work yesterday and I saw something that had me pretty upset: a little white dog tied up to a car antenna in the middle of a parking lot. My first thought was: what a dumb place to tie your dog. But it isn’t just stupid, it’s irresponsible. It endangers the dog. Would you tie a child to a car and leave them there while you do your shopping or run back into the house for something you forgot? What makes you think a dog wouldn’t get spooked or distracted and try to dart out into … Continue reading

Who is Inherently Responsible For a Child’s Education?

A very lively discussion on the homeschooling forum asking homeschoolers why they do it turned into the need for a discussion on who is inherently responsible for the education of a child. As one commenter pointed out, homeschooling set aside, most would agree that it is the parents responsibility to see that a child is educated. Still parents taking full responsibility through homeschooling are frowned upon. In my neighborhood where I grew up there were several large families with many kids. Mine were one of them. For the most part, if the first child in the family was well educated … Continue reading

The Pets Blog Week in Review for April 28 – May 4

Aimee and I wrote out April and welcomed May last week. Miss any of it? If so, here’s your handy Week in Review for quick catch-up. Monday, April 28 Aimee explained how she was a responsible for a case of fleeing fleas recently at the cat’s only boarding house where she works. A loose lizard lent to utilizing Tabby’s new skill. (If only she’d been in the right place at the right time.) I interviewed a lady who’s taking her dog Dash on a bicycling trip from Alaska to Argentina. (Along with her husband and two sons.) Tuesday, April 29 … Continue reading

Who Should be Responsible for Tardies and Absences?

One aspect of education that can be both a positive and a negative is parents. Parents can be a true asset to teachers and to children. Unfortunately parents can also be a great interference of a child’s physical and mental growth. Often times we end up blaming the child or punishing the child for things that are actually the parent’s fault. However it is much more difficult for schools or teachers to punish parents. One such occurrence that I can think of is tardiness and absenteeism from school. Elementary school students typically have no control over when and if they … Continue reading
