Where Was That Scripture?by Melissa J | More from this Blogger 05 Mar 2007 02:46 AM One of the most frustrating things for me is when I'm trying to recall a certain scripture from the Bible but I can't for the life of me find where it is! I thought this is what concordances supposed to be for, but if the Bible doesn't actually use the specific word for the subject, then the concordance isn't much help. So, for Christmas several years ago my brother bought me the Where to Find It in the Bible: The Ultimate A to Z by Ken Anderson, which includes over 3,700 contemporary topics. Finally, there's some hope. In this book you can look up words like "abandoned" or "abortion" and find scripture references which might relate to those topics. I couldn't believe what all was in here. I even looked up the word, "television" and found it; granted, the Bible does not speak directly regarding television sets, it does have scriptural references which may be relevant to issues around watching television. Another neat thing about this particular book is the cheesy comedic cartoon illustrations for some of the subjects. Some examples are:
Anyway, I encourage you to pick this book up if you don't already have it. It's a great tool for finding things when a concordance isn't of much help.
