Rapture Insurance Policies are Still Valid

Earlier this year, Harold Camping, who was a broadcaster on Christian radio, predicted the date that the world would end. Some people bought Rapture Insurance so that their pets, who would be left behind, would be cared for by someone after the policyholder was assumed into Heaven. Those policies are still valid, despite the fact that the Rapture predicted by Mr. Camping did not occur. Harold Camping made a prediction that the world would end on May 21, 2011. Obviously, that didn’t happen. But, for a while, there were many people who were convinced that the Rapture was, in fact, … Continue reading

More Failed Doomsday Predictions – Part 3

Here we are, three days after the predicted rapture. I read on the news that Harold Camping is laying low since the non-rapture and word is that the Family Radio will have a response coming in the next week. Hon-Ming Chen founded the God’s Salvation Church in the early ‘90s. He predicted God would show up on television on March 31, 1998 to save us all. When that didn’t happen, to prove himself to his followers, Chen offered to be stoned or crucified. No one took him up on his offer and the church soon disbanded. Broadcaster turned psychic Charles … Continue reading

More Failed Doomsday Predictions – Part 1

If you are reading this, we are still here and Harold Camping’s prediction that the rapture would occur on May 21 wasn’t correct. I make fun of these predictions, but I must say that I do have sympathy for the followers that really believe and especially those that sell off their possessions. Anyhow, back to more failed doomsday predictions. Mormon founder Joseph Smith made his own prediction back in 1835 that Jesus would return in 56 years. I guess the good news for Smith was that he was dead well before 1891, so he didn’t have to listen to any … Continue reading

Insurance for When The Rapture Comes

A man named Harold Camping, who is a broadcaster on Christian radio, has made the prediction that the world will end on May 21, 2011. If you are among the people who believe that he is correct with his prediction, then you have very little time left to get your life in order. Fortunately, there are some insurance policies that are designed to take affect after The Rapture happens. From what I am understanding, The Rapture is also called “The End of Days”. It is a belief that is part of many Christian religions. To summarize, The Rapture is when … Continue reading

What is the Tribulation? Part 2

The Great Tribulation is a period of seven years in which God will judge the wicked on the earth. It will be a time of great persecution and suffering for all mankind, and especially for those who remain true to Jesus Christ. The Bible mentions several different judgments that will occur during the Tribulation. They are referred to as the Seven Trumpet Judgments, the Seven Seal Judgments, and the Seven Bowl Judgments (seven is the number of perfection in the Bible): Seven Seals: The Tribulation will begin with the Antichrist rising to power. He will cause the world to believe … Continue reading

What is the Tribulation? Part 1

The Great Tribulation is a period of time, most Bible students say a period of seven years, in which the world will see the greatest destruction, turmoil and death of all time. It is a period of God unleashing His wrath on the earth for all of those who have rejected Him. His ultimate purpose in the tribulation is to bring His people, Israel, back to Himself through His righteous judgment. Many Protestants believe that the Great Tribulation could begin at any time, and that it must be accomplished before the Millennial Reign of Christ. Some view these events as … Continue reading

What is the Rapture? Part 2

The short answer is, “Nobody knows”. Jesus said that “No man knoweth the day nor the hour.” God wanted the timing of the rapture to be uncertain to people living on the earth. Why? Probably so that no one would get comfortable in his Christian life and think, “I can live however I want, Jesus isn’t coming back for __ years.” etc. Instead, Jesus wants His church to always be ready for His return. Still, many scholars through careful study of the Bible have developed theories about the timing of the rapture. 1. Pre-Tribulational View This view holds that the … Continue reading

What is the Rapture? Part 1

Over the past several years the teaching of the Rapture of the Church has been much taught, publicized and debated among Protestants, Evangelicals and in the public forum. What is the Rapture? Though the word “rapture” is never found in the Bible, the idea for the doctrine is found in I Thessalonians 4:13-18, which states: “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, (dead) that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus … Continue reading

Mommy Addictions

Two words: Downton Abbey. After a hard day scrubbing filthy floors, washing stacks of soiled dishes, sorting mountains of dirty laundry, chasing unruly kids, cooking, chauffeuring, and calming crying babies, moms deserve a break; a chance to relax, unwind and indulge in something that brings them peace, repose and otherwise rejuvenates their spirit. According to an unscientific survey, these days, those highly anticipated (though extremely rare) Mommy breaks are being spent in front of a television screen fostering an addiction to Downton Abbey. The entire universe is reportedly enraptured by the ITV/PBS drama set in early 20th Century England, but … Continue reading

Outdoor Spring Adventures

My daughter is dying to head outdoors and break in her new Razor scooter. She was fortunate to spend the month of January in Hawaii where she could scoot outside to her heart’s content (while giving my dad a heart attack in the process), but now she’s back to reality, dealing with the snow and cold that blankets the state of Wisconsin from October to June. Spring is officially here, though you’d never know it by stepping outside and feeling the chokehold Mother Nature has on our state. Still, if you are looking for ways to make the most of … Continue reading
