Real Life Travel Tales: Putting the Brakes on Summer Escapes

We’ve all been there before: We’re running late for work, school or a doctor’s appointment and we try to make up for lost time by putting the pedal to the metal. Typically, that excuse doesn’t fly when pleading your case to the police officer that just clocked you exceeding the speed limit. So what happens if Smokey clocks you going nearly 110 mph and then catches up with you again during another travel related incident? A couple from Maine will tell you that it doesn’t make for a good day. According to police in Bangor, Maine, officers pulled over a … Continue reading

Offensive Weapons

Last night while watching the Australian Open and the Hewitt/Djokovic match, it occurred to me that Hewitt never really looked like winning the match. All he was doing was hanging in there. To my eyes, he didn’t appear to have the weapons to do his opponent any harm. When you look at the top players they all have a massive serve, a killer forehand or some weapon that time and time again they unleash when they are in need of an extra fillip or to get them out of trouble. As Christians we need to do more than just hang … Continue reading

Ideas on How to Get in More Time with Your Spouse

Earlier I addressed how most Americans find that their time is more valuable to them than their money. Because we value our time so greatly, we can sometimes find it hard to give it to others. When we do give others our time, we are giving them a very special gift. There is no piece of jewelry or item that can take the place of the memories that you create when you spend time with your loved ones. In our very busy world, we remain rushed and on a schedule. It can be difficult to make ourselves take time to … Continue reading

Give Your Spouse Your Time

Being successfully married and having a family has a lot to do with priorities. In fact, happily and successfully living at all has much to do with what things we make most important in our lives. If asked most people in the world (when answering honestly) would say that money is very important and precious in their lives. They would likely rank it among the very top when thinking about things that make one’s life happy and successful. Until I was sitting in church one Sunday and heard a very special sermon, I too thought that money was probably the … Continue reading

What Are Your Priorities?

Is there a difference between making New Year’s resolutions and setting priorities for the year? I believe there is. The first, is usually made with the idea that it is more wishful thinking than anything else and New Year’s resolutions, more often than not, are broken. The second, requires an act of will and really looking at your life, where it is headed, what you want to achieve and sitting down to set those goals and priorities. How many times have you heard someone say they wished there were more hours in a day? Perhaps you have even said it … Continue reading
