Waiting for Writers and Readers.

Sometimes we chaff at how long it takes for things to happen, for God to answer our prayers. In the life of a writer a lot of time is spent waiting. Waiting for characters to be fleshed out. Of course we may still be writing at the same time and getting to know our characters. Waiting for a cooling off period after a draft of a manuscript is written, before going back to edit and revise. Then, when it is finally off to a publisher waiting for their response. Waiting for the postman to come with the good news of … Continue reading

Cutting Down on Time Spent Waiting

Time management and making the most of the time we are given in a day is one of the chief challenges of single parenting. We spread ourselves around and as the solo adult in our household; have quite a bit to tend to. One of the realities that can “eat up” valuable time in a busy day is having to wait—we wait at the doctor’s or dentist’s office, wait on line, wait in traffic. Waiting Productively

Yes, I’m back to the subject of waiting because it’s one I struggle with. If I do, it stands to reason some of you probably struggle with waiting too. Years ago in a BSF class, we were given 4 guidelines for determining whether a course of action was in accord with God’s will. As I remember they were: 1. Pray about it asking God to make His will clear to you. God promises wisdom to those who ask, James 1:5. 2. Is it in accord with and backed up by God’s Word? 3. Do … Continue reading

Packing Up and Moving On

After a long, at times seemingly never-ending, wait we are finally moving in a week. Consequently the house at the moment is filled with packed cartons and boxes. Moving time is a good time to sit back and take stock. To decide, ‘Do I need this? Do I use it? Is it just taking up space that could be better used? Is there someone who would benefit more from this piece of furniture, piece of clothing, appliance?’ Of course some things are of sentimental value. These include cards or hand made gifts from my children, letters and inexpensive items of … Continue reading
