We shouldn’t be amazed at the way God works, but sometimes I still am, especially when God even answers the unspoken desires of my heart. I don’t mean the world shattering answers to prayer, in the major issues in life, although that’s great too. But also when God acts in the little, seemingly inconsequential, details of life. The Bible is a Book of Contrasts

Don’t you love how the bible presents us with contrasts? Take the examples in Mark 10:32-52. Here we see two lots of different people with two distinctly different requests. In the first, John and James, after learning about the impending death of Jesus in Jerusalem, reacted perhaps not as we might have expected. Rather than concern for Jesus, their focus was on themselves and what might happen to them and what they wanted to happen. Are You a Jekyll and Hyde?

When I told someone about the musical version of Jekyll and Hyde they scathingly said ‘like you would. How could you make a musical of that!’ They continued to look skeptical, when I assured them it was great and contains some lovely songs. The musical is based on the book ‘TheStrange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. The other night I listened to the CD cast recording of Jekyll and Hyde with Anthony Warlow. We’ve all read the cute little stories in The Friend about the boy who lost his dime, said a prayer, and found it, right? I can’t help but get teary any time I read about a child’s faith and how quickly the Lord hears and answers their prayers.
