The Mighty Oceanby Melissa J | More from this Blogger 06 Apr 2007 02:07 AM One of the most spectacular sceneries I've viewed is the Pacific Ocean. The mountains are beautiful as is the Grand Canyon and Yellow Stone National Park, but it's the ocean that has fascinated me the most. From a distance one can see the pounding of the waves but when walking along the shore, it's easy to forget that body of water is powerful and ought to be feared in a sense of respect.
One summer while on our family vacation, my friend and I decided to go out playing in the ocean. Thought we felt the strength of the current as it hit up against our knees, we moved forward to challenge it anyway. As we grabbed hands and walked out further, a current came from underneath us and sucked both of us under breaking our hands a part. It was very frightening. I also recall one vacation where my brother was out in the water and came up shore sobbing that his twenty dollar bill, his spending money, got washed out of his short's pocket. I can't go to the ocean now without thinking about God and His awesomeness. I find it interesting that so many can have such respect for the power of the ocean and reject God and His power. I suppose it was easy to look past the might of the ocean when such peace and beauty comes from it. It is also easy to look past God's might as He yields such mercy and patience toward us, sometimes people can forget He too has a wrath. The ocean is a wonderful place to consider the power of God. Just as the ocean brings forth gifts of shells and such, God gives us gifts. As far as the eye can see, there is no end to the ocean just as there is no end to God or His love for us.

But the ocean's nice! ;-) And God IS awesome--worthy of our awe. Thanks for the blog! Grammi58 (396) 07 Apr 2007 05:03 PMI have always loved the ocean. Just by sitting on a log & listening to the waves is breathtaking. The last time I was at the ocean was a few years back with my husband. We just laid there against a log & rested. It's so quiet & peaceful Community Tags current, Creation, ocean, power of God Discuss this article
