Insurance Blog Week in Review – June 17 – 23, 2012

Each and every week, the Insurance Blog Week in Review brings you an easy way to “ketchup” on all of the blogs that appeared here in the past week. There can be anywhere between twelve and fourteen blogs here each week, and they can go by pretty fast. What did you miss? Another Reason to Cover Pre-Existing Conditions Health insurance companies are considering people who have donated a kidney as having a pre-existing condition. The insurers are using this as an excuse to deny coverage. This is horrible! California Replicates Health Care Reform Laws If the Supreme Court decides to … Continue reading

Should You Start a Direct Sales Blog?

I love blogging. In fact, I am addicted to it. I actually learned how to blog a little over a year ago and was hooked the moment I wrote my first post. As I was learning how to blog, I was also leading an direct sales organization of over three-hundred consultants. I spent much of my time dreaming of ways that I could use a blog to communicate with my downline teams, customers, potential recruits and hostesses. Unfortunately, my company had a policy which restricted any form of online advertising so I wasn’t able to put my ideas into action. … Continue reading

The Great Commission

The Great Commission is the mandate of God to Christians to spread the Gospel to every person. Jesus spoke the words of the Great Commission to his disciples just before He ascended into heaven. Matthew 28:19-20 may be the best summary of this mandate: “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the ends of the world.” This command, I believe, also applies to … Continue reading

Crib Bumpers Are Dangerous

Crib bumpers are decorative. They help make a baby’s crib look softer, warmer, and more visually appealing. Unfortunately, crib bumpers can also be dangerous. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that parents not use any crib bumpers at all. The AAP has a lot of great advice for parents. Follow that advice, and you can help to keep your baby safe. Many parents have heard the “back to sleep” advice from the AAP. The simple phrase makes it easy for parents to remember to place their baby on his or her back for sleep – and to do that … Continue reading

Earn Cash Back Online with Reward Websites

When you shop you can earn cash back online, which is especially nice now that the holidays aren’t too far away. There are several different rewards programs out there that will give you free money for every purchase that you make. If you aren’t using any of these websites, then you are missing out on valuable savings. Why would these websites give you money to shop? It must be a scheme, right? Not true. There are at least four major rebate or cash-back websites out there that are legitimate, giving money back on all of the purchases that a member … Continue reading

Texas About to Change Rules for WHP

Starting in November of 2012, there will be new rules for the Texas Women’s Health Care Program (WHP). It is part of the Medicaid program. The new rules will further limit the amount of health care that low income women can receive coverage for. This is tragic news for low income women in Texas. Medicaid is usually funded by both the federal government and the government of an individual state. The state of Texas, however, lost their federal funding for the Women’s Health Care program (WHP), after it decided to specifically exclude Planned Parenthood from receiving funding through that program. … Continue reading

Will Wyoming Create A State Insurance Exchange?

There are some states that have made a great deal of progress on setting up their health insurance exchange. There also are other states that have flat out refused to initiate the creation of one. Wyoming is undecided. It is taking a “go-slow” approach. Part of the Affordable Care Act includes the requirement that all states must set up a health insurance exchange. Each state must submit plans about exactly how their exchange will operate to the federal government for approval by January 1, 2013. There is another deadline for states that do not want to create and operate their … Continue reading

Fitness in Increments

I have mentioned in a couple of blogs dealing with a health issue that had prevented me from exercising. As I am slowly beginning to get better, I am also slowly working myself back into a routine. It got me thinking about not only those who are out of commission for a sickness or injury but any reason that fitness hasn’t been a regular part of someone’s life. Too often we think that we have to just jump right into it. We start off running a marathon before we have ever learned to sprint. Getting back into or starting a … Continue reading

Home Business Idea: Little Passports

Back in June I introduced my homeschool readers to Little Passports. My first grader and I have enjoyed the product immensely. Little Passports is a monthly subscription program that introduces your child to the world. Each month your child is sent a package with information about a new county and other little surprises. My daughter and I have already experienced a few countries with Brazil and Japan being favorites. So today I am just as excited to introduce you to a new business opportunity brought to you by Little Passports. The other day I received an email from Little Passports, … Continue reading
