Week in Review: Skeptics to Being Busy

This week I wanted to put a little more focus on reaching out as Christians. I shared about dealing with those who are critical and skeptical; the challenge in witnessing to such and handling debates when they arise. I also wrote about the harvest of souls ready for a savior, giving your all, and making time for God. In Skeptics and Critics: The Challenge, I talked about some of the challenging questions asked by those who are skeptical of Christianity. The Bible tells us we should have an answer for the hope that is in us so it’s important we … Continue reading

Skeptics and Critics: Debating

Most Christians I know choose not to engage in debates finding it pointless and a waste of their energy. Though an unbeliever who wants to debate may truly intend to frustrate and stump you for their own personal satisfaction, so often there is a part of them that is seeking more than they care to admit. Opening Up Your Business for a Little Debate

Debate and dissent can be scary—many of us feel judged or as if when someone disagrees with us, we have to battle and battle until we come out on top. One of the reasons that blogs and websites and forums are so popular is … Continue reading

Holiness vs. Legalism: Drawing the Line? My Conclusion

In part 1 I shared my struggle with drawing the line between holiness and legalism. I touched on the way we dress and music. Then in part 2, I talked a bit about churches which seem to miss the mark as well as celebration of holidays and who we choose to associate with. I’ve by no means come to a final conclusion in my heart. I don’t know that I ever will because God is constantly growing me. Once I think I have something figured out, God unveils something else for me and I realize I am still just a … Continue reading

A Lesson On Faith

Things were getting a little sticky for our family in the fall of 2004. I had quit my job to stay home full-time with our first child and we were living in a house we could no longer afford without my income. We were living in Wisconsin at the time and knew that it was time for us to move on. Some things had transpired in our church which showed us that God no longer wanted us there. Our primary goal at the time was to pay off our school debt, and how could we do that when we were … Continue reading
