Keep On, Keeping On

Years ago in Australia we had ad for some paint and the slogan was, ‘keep on keeping on’ I have to say at this point, advertising fails on me. I remember the slogan but never remember the product. I do know it’s much the same in the Christian life we need to keep on, keeping on. Sometimes people might ask us to pray for them because they don’t think God will listen to them. I had a friend say to me once, ‘I don’t pray. God wouldn’t listen.’ Of course I could have replied ‘How much notice did you ever … Continue reading

A Fast from the World

The other week a young married couple we know, were ‘fasting from the world’ for a week. What this meant for them was no internet and emails, no TV, no music, no magazines, no books and no radio. They were still in the world but cutting themselves off from the world’s influences. Add to all these things that take up our time, the unexpected. That visit to the Drs … Continue reading

As the years have gone by, I’ve managed to get him into some beautiful Perry Ellis slacks for church, but for leisure wear, it’s still pretty much his favorite Dockers that fill the closet. Being frugal, I usually pick them up at our favorite second-hand store. Once in awhile, there’s a sale good enough to warrant buying them new. Now there’s a third option. Through June 9th, if … Continue reading

Seven Steps Towards a Stronger Relationship with the Lord.

What can we learn from the Old Testament and God’s relationship with His people,Israel? Exodus 19:1-25. 1. In the third month after they set out from Egypt, Israel reaches the desert of Sinai and camps at the foot of the mountain. Verses 1-2. It is often when we are in the harsh situations, which feel like a desert, that God meets with us. 2. Moses goes up the mountain. The Lord tells Moses exactly what he is to say to the people of Israel, verse 3. God is always clear about what He tells His people. At times he speaks … Continue reading
