Routine

While each and every day of one's life is unique and different, there are things in life that are inevitably the same. Some things become a daily routine, some a weekly routine, others a monthly routine, and even others a yearly routine. Each day we shower, read the newspaper, and maybe even drink a cup of coffee. Each week we tune in to watch our favorite television shows. Each month we pay our bills. Each year we celebrate another year of life and maybe another year of marriage.

Christians should have established routines aside from the normal routines of the world. They should have a routine prayer life as well as an established routine for studying God's Word. Christians should also have a routine established for attending worship. Routine is an important aspect of the Christian's walk, but can also be a dangerous tool of Satan's.

So many things within our lives are routine that we can develop a nonchalant attitude toward these things. Do we really consider or think about the things that we do routinely in our lives? Obviously there is not much to think about when taking a daily shower, but there are many things Christians do routinely that do require much thought, such as their devotion to the Lord.

It can be easy to fall into the trap of being so comfortable in the way that one lives their life as a Christian that the heart falls out of their actions for the Lord. Christians must not treat attending worship or praying like the other things in their lives that are routine. Christians need to guard against the trap of simply living the "routine" Christian life. God demands our complete heart and soul.

Christians need to make sure that the Lord and serving Him is a routine in their lives. After all, the Christians purpose in the world is to serve the Lord and tell others about Him. However, Christians also need to make sure their routine is focused on the Lord and not just another empty part of their day.
