Pray and Wait for God’s Answer

When you pray do you expect your prayer to be answered? Are you waiting on God and listening for His answer? Let me share one experience of how God answered my prayer. Recently I was asked to do a talk in front of a large number of women in a couple of months. Now, I’m happy to stand up and sing in front of a crowd any time but speaking is not always such an easy task or comfortable area. But it wasn’t about how I felt about it but about what God wanted me to do. No matter how … Continue reading

Have You Considered a Prayer Covenant?

Prayer – how important a part does it play in your life? And how other person focused is your prayer? Or are you mostly concerned with your own needs? Recently a fellow writer suggested that a number of us online, most of us writers, form a 40 day prayer covenant, the idea being that each day everyone on the list would pray for the person nominated for that day. We were asked to each give three brief points, the first a point of praise and the other two requests. Prayers could be changed as they were answered and new ones … Continue reading

How Can You Know God’s Will for Your Life? Part 2

Have you sat down and worked out your list of God given gifts and abilities? What course of action is required for you to use you talents and gifts? In my previous blog, How Can You Know God’s Will? Part 1 I identified four areas of gifts and abilities God gave me. What course of action was required for me to use my talents and gifts? God challenged me with Matthew 28:19 about making disciples of all nations. I decided one way of doing that was through the written word. Point seven of the eleven principles in Discovering God’s Will … Continue reading

Praying Over Tasks For The Day

In a study my darling husband and I are working through together, called Proverbs and Parables – 16 studies on God’s wisdom for living by Dee Brestin, it suggested a special daily assignment. This was to ‘each morning prayerfully commit to the Lord your work for the day and let Him direct your thoughts. As he brings various activities to mind, list them on paper. Then let Him show you what you should do first, second etc.’ This is an application of Proverbs 16:3 which says ‘Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.’ This suggestion … Continue reading

The World is Watching

Our dog is afraid of thunderstorms. This is not the puppy, who is totally unfazed by storms. This is our big cross Kelpie and Border Collie. The other week he tried to tunnel under the fence and became so agitated by the storm that last time it thundered we took pity on him and let him inside. We figured that the little pup was unfazed because she was inside with us and knew she was safe. So we thought it would calm our big dog down too if he was allowed in with us. The plan certainly didn’t work out … Continue reading

When things Go Wrong

How do you respond when things go wrong in your life? When you pray and your prayers aren’t answered? Or worse still, the opposite of what you pray happens? This week I had two experiences of this. The temptation could be to get down in the dumps and say ‘then why bother praying. God’s not listening or doesn’t care.’ From previous experience and my relationship with the Lord, I know that is far from the case. So why do things not work out as hoped? Several reasons suggest themselves. One is, the Lord knows better than I do what I … Continue reading

Confession

Who do we make confession to? The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is our advocate. I believe it is Christ who we are to pray to and ultimately confess our sins to. “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2) Prior to Jesus’ coming, Nehemiah gives us an example of confession to God for … Continue reading
