Getting Too Comfy?by Melissa J | More from this Blogger 17 Apr 2007 02:22 AM Does God really want us to be comfortable? If someone had asked me years ago I would have told them yes because I believed God wanted us to be happy and He wants good for our lives. I know now the reality about being too comfortable in our walk and the destruction it can be in our lives. As long as we are living in this sin filled world we will not arrive at perfection. This does not mean we shouldn't make great efforts to do better and be better though. God deserves nothing less than the best we have to offer Him at any point in time. When people become too comfortable in their faith what often happens is they don't grow. Those who believe they have all the answers and put their faith within a box shouldn't expect to mature in their relationship with Christ because they aren't taking that next faith step in the direction God is calling them to. Think for a moment about what would happen if we stopped eating or stopped moving. If we stopped eating, we would eventually starve to death. If we stopped moving not only would we never get anywhere, but our muscles would break down and should we want to get up, it will be more difficult. I believe it is a bit like this with our spiritual walk. I have those times when I really don't feel like going to church or reading my Bible. There are times where I really don't feel like praying. But when I go any length of time without doing these things I really start to feel like something is missing. I start to feel a void in my life that can only be filled by the Lord. I think we probably all get a bit too comfortable in our Christian walks from time to time and resist or forget we need to grow-up in faith. We can rest assured there are wonderful blessings to be had in our obedience to God and maturing spiritually. The place where Satan wants us to be is nice and comfortable, relaxed enough spiritually to prey on us. For those who've gotten too comfortable and now realize you've backslidden, this doesn't mean it will be too much work to back on track. God is so gracious to help you and would love to see you start walking toward Him once again. Please visit these related blogs: Relevantchristian tags User Comments No comments on this article yet.
