Initiatives in Children’s Ministry

Think children’s ministry is not important? Think again. Statistics show that most decisions for Jesus are made in the years prior to 18. So there is a need to make children’s ministry a high priority in our church and community. Children’s ministry is not something to be left to those who have no skills or aptitude for it. Children’s ministry needs to be taken seriously with the gospel message given at a level relevant to the age and experience of the child. Youthworks takes the issue of children’s ministry seriously. This organization, which started around seven years ago, recognized the … Continue reading

Week in Review: Our Messiah to Children and Spiritual Battles

This week I wanted to address the Biblical prophesy of Jesus Christ our Messiah, the many dispensations of time in the Bible, and work on a two part series about children and the devil; one addressing when to tell your children about him and the other on giving your kids the tools for protecting themselves in their lives through by the power of God. In Jesus, Our Promised Messiah I touched on statistically how likely it is that Jesus is the messiah who was foretold throughout the Bible. Within, I provided a link that addresses 365 scriptures that He has … Continue reading

Equipping Children for Spiritual Battle

Today many children are learning the devil is nothing more than a make-believe story character. Unfortunately, those who believe this are very mistaken. I believe children need to know truth as is appropriate for their age and maturity. Satan doesn’t wait until our children are older to torment them with his wicked ways. I believe we as parents have an obligation to do spiritual battle for our children through prayer as well as equip them as necessary to stand up during those moments of temptation we aren’t aware of. When I was six years old, I asked my Grandma if … Continue reading

When and What to Tell your Children about the Devil

After becoming a mom, I was eager to introduce my child to his Savior Jesus Christ. I knew what songs I’d sing to him and what I wanted to teach him about God’s love for us. I didn’t give much thought at that time to how I would tell him about the enemy of his soul he’d need to resist. Children who attend Sunday school regularly will likely learn about Satan in their class. They might hear about him through the story of Adam and Eve where Satan appeared as a serpent or from the story where Jesus was tempted. … Continue reading

Who Is This Man?

At the end of Mark 4 the disciples asked, ‘Who is this that even the winds and waves obey Him?’ verse 41. It’s a question people today still ask. One of the songs for children on The King, The Snake and The Promise answers this question wonderfully. Here, Mark 5:1-20, also answers it as the disciples receive further demonstration of the power and authority of Jesus. 1. When they went across to the area of Gerasenes a man with an evil spirit came out of the tomb to meet Jesus, verses 1-2. Was the man still in control after a … Continue reading

The Armor of God for Christian Soldiers

Ephesians 6:10-18 “10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand … Continue reading
