Being Sick

A week prior to this writing I became very sick with the flu then a double ear infection. During this bout of misery I was trying to imagine what good could be found in feeling the way I did—like I said I was sick and probably not thinking clearly. As dramatic as it sounds, I started to wonder the “what-ifs” and think about my children being without a mother and my husband being without a wife. Then I had to snap back to reality and remind myself, I was just sick, I was not dying! While I was lying in … Continue reading

Dealing with Consequences of Poor Choices

Have you ever done anything stupid financially or hurt someone and felt tremendous regret over your actions? Maybe it felt like a bad dream you’d hoped to wake up from but couldn’t. I imagine all of us at one point or another have done something stupid that we couldn’t undo. When we make poor choices it might feel like God is angry with us. As a result, we may pull away from Him because our shame is so great. I had a lot of regret one weekend after having a custom ring made. I liked the design. I was forced … Continue reading

The Armor of God for Christian Soldiers

Ephesians 6:10-18 “10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand … Continue reading

Christmas Cheer or Christmas Fear

I wish I could say this time of the year was a time for joy and celebration for everyone. For some it’s a reminder of their lack. To others it might be a reminder that their loved one is really gone. Some find this season to be a time when once contained emotions surface ready to be dealt with in a new way. Christmas should be a time a time to really put into perspective whose birth it is that’s celebrated on this day and what the purpose of His coming was really about. The Lord Jesus has become such … Continue reading

What to Do With Post Election Frustrations

It can be discouraging to vote and find out what you were supporting did not come to be. Even as we pray for God’s will to be done and the outcome appears so much different, it’s important we keep our chin up and not lose heart. God has given us free will—all of us. Looking now at the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chapter 18-19, I read that Abraham asked God not to destroy the city if he could find any within that were righteous. He went from requesting God spare the city on the account of 50 … Continue reading

Communicating With God

Does God still talk with us? When we cry out to Him how can we be certain He hears us? It’s my belief that God is living and wants to have a relationship with His children. Not only do I believe God hears us, but I believe we too can hear God if we listen. The key here is “listening”. It is so easy to get wrapped up our daily concerns and put off spending time with God. But, as with any relationship, if you don’t keep communication open, you can lose closeness with the other person. The time when … Continue reading
