Demonic Doors

Demonic oppression happens a number of ways. We as believers genuinely in Christ cannot be possessed by demons because what fellowship has light with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14). This does not mean that we can’t open doors for demonic oppression in our lives. As a Christian, I believe the Holy Spirit will guide us to truth as we seek the Lord. God is gracious to work in us, changing our hearts to desire what He wills for us. Still, not everyone is receptive or at the point in their walk where they discern things in their lives that can draw … Continue reading

Halloween Shots: Don’t Forget Fido

(A real hot dog.) Take a look at this photo. This is the Halloween costume I wanted my 7-year-old to wear trick-or-treating. She refused. She also turned up her nose at Old Navy’s other tasty costumes, including the cupcake, ice cream cone and hamburger. I told her that she would surely score double treats if she went door-to-door looking as cute as the hot dog in the photo above. Actually, I bet the dog would rake in an even bigger haul by donning Old Navy’s Banana Split costume for pups. I know I would surely snap a shot of a … Continue reading

Pets and Holiday Photos

Red and green are the colors of Christmas, but no pet owner wants to photograph his dog and see the seasonal shades show up in his pooch’s eyes. To avoid turning your pup into a green or red-eyed monster, the first thing you need to do is turn off your camera’s flash. A camera’s built-in flash emits a harsh light, which typically reflects off the animal’s retina and results in a demonic appearance. Instead of shooting your pet’s holiday photo indoors, consider taking aim outdoors where you can use natural light to your advantage. If the winter weather makes shooting … Continue reading

Red-Eye Reducers

You don’t have to drop a bundle to buy a fancy digital camera with a built-in red-eye reduction feature in order to eliminate demonic-looking photos. If your camera doesn’t come with red-eye reduction capabilities, then follow these tips to avoid the unattractive red glow that is caused when a camera’s flash reflects off of a person’s retina: Lighting: One of the best ways to reduce red-eye is to flood your shooting area with as much natural light as possible. By doing so, you can reduce the need to employ your camera’s flash. Shooting outdoors is preferable; just remember to avoid … Continue reading

We Have No Need for Fortune Tellers

In today’s world, we hear a lot about psychics, fortune tellers, clairvoyants and the like who all have the answers to our problems. There is a lot of pressure to hear what our futures hold, to understand the mysteries of life, and to know what direction to take. Many good people have been led away into following after these practices, believing that they need this kind of information in order to survive in this confusing time. We as members of the Church have all the tools we need to make proper, right decisions without the need for these practices. First … Continue reading

The Way Out From Dangerous Paths

Yesterday we looked at the gravity with which God views astrology, sorcery, fortunetelling and such. Does that mean God can never bring a person out of such a background? No it does not! Like any other sin, God will forgive if the person truly repents and puts their trust in the Lord Jesus. The bible sites an example in Acts 16:16 where Paul, in the name of Jesus, rescued a slave girl from the practice of divination and fortunetelling, Acts 16:16-18 More recently it was the case in Australia, where God rescued Merryanne Sumner from new age practices that included … Continue reading

Dangerous Paths

Our world has a fascination with astrology, physic phenomena, fortunetelling and the occult. Just look at the TV shows which are, or have in the past, littered our screens. Shows like Charmed, The Supernatural, Ghost Whisperer, Medium etc. Pick up almost any magazine or newspaper and you will find astrology pages, often along with other pages about asking psychics for help, or fortune tellers or interpretation of dreams etc. This is without even mentioning the internet and mobile phone and text messages. According to today’s world you can find a mate by the stars, garden by the stars, choose the … Continue reading

Counterfeit Goodness

The author of counterfeit goodness in this world is none other than Satan himself. He is the enemy of our souls who despises us as God’s creation and is full of envy toward our loving and merciful Father. Satan uses counterfeit goodness when there is a need or desire in our lives. He’s had centuries of working on his sales pitch and frankly he’s quite good at it. Unfortunately, if we should choose to buy into his false promises, we will end up cheated with junk to carry around. As you may recall Eve bought into Satan’s deceit regarding wisdom … Continue reading

Week in Review: The Virtuous Wife to God’s Will

This week I shared about the Proverbs 31 woman and how we can strive to be like her, how people can open themselves to Satan’s realm by activities that involve mind submission, the parental role of a mother while she’s pregnant, and what it means to really turn your will over to God. A friend of mine recommended I write a blog on The Proverbs 31 Woman: The Virtuous Wife where I could share ways I have applied her example in my own life. It was a really neat activity to try and helped me to see where I could … Continue reading

Demons and Exorcism in Jesus’ Day

Though you may be skeptical of the term “exorcism”, the occurrence of people being possessed by demons, and those demons being exorcised was common during the first century. There is not only evidence for it in the Jewish community, but also in the greater Greek world of the time. Aside from Jesus and the Apostles, the Bible refers to assistants of the religious leaders whose job it was to free people from demonic control (Acts 19). Accounts of demonic oppression and control are found in the Old Testament in the story of Saul (I Kings 4:29-34). Jews had techniques for … Continue reading
