Book Review: God's Wisdom for Little Boys

We received the book, God's Wisdom for Little Boys by Jim & Elizabeth George, for our two-year-old son at Christmas this year. Jim and Elizabeth George have both written exceptional devotional books for adults and teens and have been involved in Christian ministry for years. At first, I admit, I was a little skeptical. I generally enjoy children's books that are short and simple, and this one appeared long and perhaps over his head. However, upon sitting down to read it with him, I abruptly changed my mind. I found this book to be a wonderful study on Proverbs for little boys. It is rife with adorable rhymes that teach your little boy how to put a Proverb's teaching to practical use.

"God's Little Boy is Wise"

Do you want to grow up and be a wise man? Do you want to be smart? God says you can! Just seek our God's truth throughout your days, And you'll be wise as you follow His ways.

"The mind of a smart person is ready to get knowledge. The wise person listens to learn more." Proverbs 18:15

The book explores many Godly character traits such as being helpful, industrious, responsible, honest, obedient and friendly. There are over twenty pages in it, but it does not become tiresome reading. The rhymes are smart and catchy.

This is a high-quality book that has a hard cover and is approximately 8.5" x 10". The left hand side of each page contains the character quality, Bible verse and rhyme. The right hand side of the page displays vivid water-color pictures of a little boy doing various things that act-out the character traits.

Each of the pictures also includes an adorable puppy and frog. These characters sometimes appear to be "hiding" in the pictures. My son enjoys going through each page and finding the characters, but he also remains interested in the book. He doesn't flip through the pages to the end of the book or just hand me a different book as he does with some others.

God's Wisdom for Little Boys is a great introduction for your little guy if you want to begin to prepare him to be a Godly man. It is also a great gift idea if you know someone who would enjoy it. You can get order the book from Amazon.
