Bible Stories: Escape to Egypt

I have been teaching stories from the book of Matthew to my Bible class children on Sunday mornings. When I came to the lesson from Matthew 2:12-23, I thought that it was a lesson the children should know, but that they probably would not find the lesson very interesting. I was so wrong! I am not sure what intrigued them so much, but they really enjoyed the lesson. Activities for the Story of Christ’s Birth

I always think that crafts are a great way to enhance any Bible story which you teach your children. Crafts engage children in a different way than a Bible story lesson; however, crafts help to reiterate the lesson the children have just learned. In the Bible class I teach, I use the craft time to ask the children about what they are making, and thus ask them if they really learned the lesson I just finished teaching. Holiday Opportunity

As you may or may not know, I do not celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday for many of the same reasons I do not celebrate Easter as a religious holiday. I have outlined those reasons in a previous blog, and that is not what this blog is about. While I do not celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday I do celebrate it in a secular way. I exchange gifts with family and friends. I help cook the family-style mashed potatoes. I bake the Christmas cookies and decorate them with red and green icing and sprinkles on top.
