Reality Star Jade Goody is Dying

British reality star Jade Goody has shown the country her personality through reality shows, now she is choosing to die just as openly. Twenty seven year old Goody appeared on the British version of “Big Brother” in 2002. She became well known, but not always for good reasons. The press hounded her for her lack of knowledge of British geography and criticized her for running around the Big Brother house naked and drunk. However, she became popular with the public. Terrell Owens Gets Reality Show

Football fans may or may not like it, but Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens is going to be the star of his own reality show. The reason I say fans may or may not like it is because many fans don’t like Owen due to his outspokenness and huge ego. It’s not that Owens cannot deliver on the field – he can. Drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1996 NFL draft, he helped the team win 13 games that year. In 2000, he made 20 catches for 283 yards, breaking a 50 year old NFL record. However, … Continue reading

A Dose of Reality

As someone who’s had their share of sin while growing up, it surprises me to see how sheltered my life really is since becoming an adult and turning my life over to Christ. What many seem to view as the “norm”, I don’t. Cursing for example; I don’t struggle with bad words coming out of my mouth. It’s not that a word doesn’t slip out from another family member in my home, but I really have been blessed not being exposed to vulgar talk on a daily basis. I have friends of different beliefs, cultures and lifestyles, but my closest … Continue reading

A Necessary Dose of Mommy or Daddy: Visitation and the Special Needs Child

It’s a very difficult thing to do: packing your child up for a weekend, two weeks, or even a whole summer to spend time with his other parent. This is especially true if your ex-spouse is not willing to work agreeably with you as a parenting partner. A child with special needs is particularly hard to send away for any extended period of time. He or she may have certain challenges you’ve been working on, and you’ve just started to make some progress when it’s time for his departure. How do you see that your ex-spouse continues with the parental … Continue reading

Summer Lovin’—Wedding Bells Ring for Reality TV Stars

Ah, Summer—the most popular time of the year for couples to tie the knot. So, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to see the wedding bug has bitten a number of reality TV stars. An ex-“Apprentice” contestant and a “Survivor” castaway became July brides yesterday. (Fortunately, neither affair was a televised event. Cough, Trista and Ryan, cough, cough.) The wedding of former “Apprentice” contestant Jennifer Murphy (she was the blonde that Donald Trump referred to as “beautiful” in season 4) was infused with more than just a little dose of reality TV. Not only did Murphy celebrate her nuptials in … Continue reading

Robot Babies Don’t Prevent Teen Pregnancy

When you were in high school, you might have been assigned to carry around an egg, or a baby doll, as part of your sexual education coursework. It provided just enough awkwardness, and annoyance, to make teens realize that being a parent can be difficult. Today, some teens are assigned to care for a robot baby. Unfortunately, these adorable robot babies don’t prevent teen pregnancy. Robot babies are infant simulators with wireless programing and reporting capabilities. At first glance, you might think it was a real baby. The robot baby will cry when it needs to be fed, burped, rocked, … Continue reading

Universal Orlando Will Drop Health Plans for Part-Time Workers

Universal Orlando is going to stop offering health insurance to part-time employees as of December 31, 2013. Universal is currently offering health plans that are considered to be inadequate according to the regulations in the Affordable Care Act, which goes into affect on January 1, 2014. Universal is one of the largest employers in Central Florida. It has about 17,000 employees. Although thousands of the workers are part-time, only around 500 of them are currently enrolled in the employer sponsored health insurance plan. Other part-time workers are covered under their spouse’s health plan. Still others, who are between the ages … Continue reading

Honey Boohoohoo!

Hoohoohoo… Hear that? The sobs, wails and groans are a result of watching less than five minutes of TLC’s train wreck of a reality TV series, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” And by train wreck, I mean hit show, ratings Goliath, and sad reflection of society’s taste in entertainment. Millions of viewers tune in each week to mock the parenting skills–or lack thereof–displayed on the show which stars 7-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and her eclectic family: *June “Mama” Shannon, the 32-year-old mother of Honey Boo Boo and her three sisters. She’s also the GRANDMOTHER of baby Kaitlyn. Did … Continue reading

Are Children the Key to Happiness?

Not when you are scrubbing Skittles remnants from your washing machine after your kid leaves a handful of the sticky candy in his pants pocket. Not when your four-year-old strolls out of Chuck E. Cheese’s restroom–naked– requesting help wiping his butt. Not when you are forced up at 2 a.m. to break up a fight over a night light. Ah, the joys of parenting. And by joys I mean daily doses of reality that leave you wondering whether procreating was such a good idea. Of course it was… right? Not so much, according to a recent survey of nearly 1,000 … Continue reading

Mommy Addictions

Two words: Downton Abbey. After a hard day scrubbing filthy floors, washing stacks of soiled dishes, sorting mountains of dirty laundry, chasing unruly kids, cooking, chauffeuring, and calming crying babies, moms deserve a break; a chance to relax, unwind and indulge in something that brings them peace, repose and otherwise rejuvenates their spirit. According to an unscientific survey, these days, those highly anticipated (though extremely rare) Mommy breaks are being spent in front of a television screen fostering an addiction to Downton Abbey. The entire universe is reportedly enraptured by the ITV/PBS drama set in early 20th Century England, but … Continue reading
